Supported Housing

Passionate about housing people...

Behavioral Health Resources (BHR) owns and manages three residential properties in the Olympia and Tumwater area of Thurston County.

We offer a variety of studio and 1-bedroom units based on availability.

The Gardens (34-Units)

Tumwater Cove (8-Units)

The B&B Apartments (16-Units)

At BHR Housing Properties, we connect individuals with disabilities to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Project-Based Voucher Program through the Housing Authority of Thurston County (HATC) for all units as available.

Within our residential apartments, we strive for individuals to live independently in a safe and sanitary community, with efficient and courteous support from our housing team. Inside our on-site housing office at The Gardens Apartments, our team will connect with your BHR mental health professional for placement services, advocacy, and coordination for social services to support your medical, psychiatric, and housing needs across each complex. Additionally, your landlord will monitor the provisions of your lease agreement, voucher project regulations, and enforce the WA Residential Landlord Tenant Act.

What are the requirements for Tenants living in our housing community?

  • That you as the Tenant are able to live in a community that provides Outpatient Services without the need for 24-hour supervision.
  • That you are engaged in recovery for your mental illness.
  • That you are capable and willing of abiding by a rental contract, and community agreement for the safety and stability of yourself and others in our community.

How to get in contact with our BHR housing program?

If you are interested in applying for our housing program, please contact your BHR clinician or case manager who can print the housing application and assist you in filling it out. Once you submit the packet with all supporting documents to your clinician, our Adults Program Manager will review your eligibility criteria as received. If accepted, the Housing Supervisor may contact you to schedule at least one in-person interview to help determine your fit for tenancy. As an applicant, you will need to be legally responsible to enter a legal contract, capable of carrying out lease requirements, must not be engaging in any illegal activities, and must cooperate with all documentation and background checks. Please be mindful that we rent units to qualified tenants based on unit availability, reference checks, and certification documents.

Engineers and contractors hold the plan and point it at the structure of the building. The construction project inspector team visits the site to inspect the construction site.

How can you help?

It costs approximately $20,000 to renovate one of our apartments. Every donation helps drive the success of all our programs, including housing.
