A Place For Us...
A Campaign for BHR's Home

The need for increased space
Because of the decrease in services at the regional level, communities are now expected to care for their own residents with mental illness at the local level. The reduction in regional mental health services has led to an increasing need for services and staff to assist people suffering from mental illness and addiction locally. BHR is responding to that need by providing a range of services that help people live successful lives within their own community. The demand for increased services has led to a recognized community need for expanded services and increased space to provide those services. Therefore, for the first time in our 50 years in service to our community, BHR hopes to purchase the Martin Way campus.

The Capital campaign for the Behavioral Health Resources Mental Health Campus
"A Place for Us, The Campaign for the BHR Mental Health Campus" will be publicly launched in the spring of 2005 with a $1,152,500 fundraising goal. The volunteer-powered Campaign will target gifts from corporations, foundations, individuals and business to support creation of the BHR Mental Health Campus and the continued excellence of BHR's service to some of the area's most vulnerable citizens. By our 50th anniversary in 2006 we hope to own and occupy 28,100 square feet in a three-building campus near Martin Way in Olympia. The Campus, will provide the first permanent home for BHR, housing a centralized administration and a broad range of mental health services for low-income children and adults.

Welcome to Behavioral Health Resources. Serving primarily low-income persons, we serve the Southwest Region of Washington State with a broad spectrum of mental health and addiction treatment services.

Mental illnesses are some of the most misunderstood afflictions in today's society. Too many people think of mental illness as a "weakness." Nothing could be further from the truth. These are true illnesses - brain diseases.

Relationships, work, school and home life can suffer as a result of mental illnesses. Thousands of people live with mental illnesses every day, and some are not even aware, themselves, of the problem. However, unlike the images we often see in books, on television and at the movies, many people with mental illnesses can lead productive, fulfilling lives with proper treatment and support. Making the decision to seek or continue treatment is a positive step toward improving your quality of life. Help is but a phone call away.

If you or someone you love needs help with mental illness and/or problems with chemical dependency or general counseling, please call our facility today for a confidential assessment. We want to help you or assist you in locating the right source. We can be reached at 360-704-7170 or 1-800-825-4820.
